We have been watching and working with Father Gregg Boyle and Homeboy Ind. for over 18 years. When we were little, my Mom contacted Father Gregg and started training kids to work at her restaurant for a jobs program and started bringing kids home to work on our farm and generally have a great time. We also remember when our Mom volunteered to start the first Homeboy Bakery in Boyle Heights. We not only remember handfuls of working stories from the restaurant and the bakery, but also the guys that worked and hung around our house from Homeboy. Whether it be painting our sister’s pony with ‘war paint’, planting 36 Cotton-wood trees, or mending a corral fence with hammers and nails and upon hearing the echo of their hammers hitting those boards, asking my Mom if she had a shooting range, we gained many great stories. These are such awesome stories, we still repeat them today reciting them with laughter and tears. There were so many great guys, many of whom are not here with us today.
We started OneSkater.com out of the Love we have for Father Gregg Boyle, Homeboy Industries, and all of the great guys we’ve met downtown. Our mission is to support Homeboy Ind. by designing t-shirts and skate apparel, whereby proceeds go directly to Homeboy Ind.
Our Mission affects You. Support Homeboy Industries.
